The most popular home renovation to add value to your home today is undoubtedly “the kitchen makeover”. Several years ago these homeowners installed new granite counter tops and hardwood floors but they were not satisfied with the results. They contacted us to help them create the kitchen of their dreams.
Because the room is an interior space having no windows of its own the cabinetry was replaced with painted and glazed cabinetry to reflect the natural light. Taller than the original cabinets these are mounted at the ceiling and capped with a three piece crown. This eliminates shadows and offers more storage. Light colored granite counter tops, and natural stone tiles were chosen for the backsplash to give the room interest and texture without absorbing precious light.
There was a conscious decision to select the brushed stainless accent tiles, hardware and lighting fixtures to compliment the stainless appliances and introduce additional reflective elements to brighten and accent the space.
In the breakfast room an existing table inspired the colors chosen for the new cabinetry, granite and natural stone tile. Area rugs in the kitchen and the breakfast room repeat colors in the adjoining rooms and the addition of window treatments in the same color family frame the lovely view.
As you can imagine, there are an exhausting number of decisions to be made before you begin a renovation project. When you are considering a renovation or construction project consider hiring an interior designer. A person who has your best interests at heart and the skills to bring your project to completion with the most satisfying results is an invaluable asset.
